Bro. Xavier Carr: Service, Creativity, and Brotherhood in Action

Bro. Xavier Carr crossed into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. through Gamma Lambda in Fall 2023 as part of the 6 Great Adjos of Khafre. Known on his line as “Imhotep,” he holds the Quad position. The name reflects both strength and purpose, inspired by the ancient engineer Imhotep, whom Bro. Carr describes as “unbending and unwavering.”

Why He Chose Alpha Phi Alpha

Bro. Carr’s path to Alpha was shaped early in life. Growing up in North Texas, often as the only Black child in his school, he faced racism, housing insecurity, and homelessness. During that time, a Black man stepped in as a mentor and role model, leaving a lasting imprint.

“I grew up less fortunate,” Bro. Carr shared. “But there was a Black man who intervened and showed me another way. I saw the Alpha symbols, the Black and Old Gold, and I wanted to emulate that.”

Although financial realities delayed his pursuit of Alpha during college, the desire never left. Encouraged by his wife, Bro. Carr revisited the fraternity as an alumnus and found a deep connection to Gamma Lambda and the legacy of the Detroit Alphas. “Once I started digging into the history, I was proud just to associate my name with it,” he said.

Creativity as Calling and Service

Professionally, Bro. Carr is an automotive product application engineer. Creatively, he is a designer, builder, and entrepreneur. Through a growing printing operation with more than twenty 3D printers, he creates everything from cosplay armor and movie props to signage, decor, and custom chapter materials.

“I love being able to take an idea and turn it into something you can hold in your hand,” Bro. Carr explained. “If it’s tangible, I can make it.”

That creativity has led to collaborations connected to major entertainment brands, including work adjacent to Marvel projects, video game promotions, and film properties. For Bro. Carr, creation is not just art, it is purpose driven problem solving.

Wrestling, Community, and Giving Back

Bro. Carr’s creative skills also intersect with service through his work with professional wrestling affiliated community initiatives. Partnering with long standing fundraising groups, he helps organize service events tied to major wrestling pay per view weekends, raising money for pediatric cancer research and community causes.

“You’re charging people to see their stars and do community service,” Bro. Carr said. “But the outcome is meals packed, money raised, and kids helped. That’s the joy in it.”

For him, service is personal. “When you’ve been homeless, when you’ve been hungry, you move differently,” he reflected. “If I have it, you can have it.”

A Message to Brothers Who Stepped Away

Bro. Carr’s message to inactive brothers is rooted in empathy. “Life happens,” he said. “But why isolate yourself when you can be surrounded by a family that has your back? What you’ve lived through is exactly what someone else needs.”

Bro. Xavier Carr represents Alpha Phi Alpha through creativity, service, resilience, and heart. His work reminds us that innovation and compassion are powerful tools for community impact.
